Day 38: Wednesday 30/05/2012

Hopefully today is the day that Sergio will awake from his long induced coma. The paralytics was turned off this morning so at some stage later this afternoon we are anticipating that he will slowly start to come around. Initially it may just start off with some tiny finger or toe twitches. He will still be feeling very drowsy as he continues to receive quite a lot of heavy dosage medication including morphine, midazolam and methadone. Can’t wait to see those beautiful blue eyes again!

12:30pm First sign of movement with Sergio ever so slightly moving his big toe.

12:45pm Both eyelids are beginning to flicker. Not quite opening the eyes yet.

1:05pm Sergio opened his eyes for 10 seconds and then decides to go back to sleep for a bit longer.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Esperemos que hoy sea el día en el que Sergio se despertará de su largo coma inducido. La maquinas que mantuvieron a Sergio en coma se apagaron esta mañana, así, en algún momento de esta tarde estaremos anticipando a que poco a poco se despierte. Inicialmente, sólo comenzara a mover algún dedo pequeño o a tener espasmos en el dedo del pie. Todavía se sentira muy somnoliento mientras continuara recibiendo una gran cantidad de medicamentos fuertes en dosis como la morfina, midazolam y metadona, tal y como ha venido haciendo hasta ahora. No puedo esperar a ver esos hermosos ojos azules de nuevo!

12:30pm Primer signos de movimiento levemente moviendo su dedo gordo del pie.

12:45pm Ambos párpados están comenzando a parpadear. No del todo puede abrir los ojos todavía.

1:05pm Sergio abrió los ojos durante 10 segundos y luego decidio volver a dormir un poco más.

 

 

 

 

 

1:30pm A lot of mouth movement going on now.

2:30pm Eyes are wide open now.

1:30pm Gran cantidad de movimientos en la boca.

2:30 pm Los ojos están bien abiertos.

3:00pm Sergio went back asleep. It’s been such an exciting day so far. Rosa and Tadhg got to see Sergio’s waking up live through the webcam.

Another wonderful milestone has been achieved by this remarkable baby.

3:30pm Sergio starts to stick his tongue out and begins to blow bubbles out of his mouth. He is still very heavily sedated with the medication but it’s brilliant to even see him opening and closing his eyes.

3:00pm Sergio volvió a dormirse. Ha sido un día muy emocionante hasta ahora. Rosa y Tadhg llegaron a ver a Sergio despertar en directo a través de la webcam.

3:30pm Sergio empieza a meter la lengua y empieza a hacer burbujas en su boca. Él es todavía muy fuertemente sedado con la medicación, pero es genial verle abrir y cerrar los ojos.
