Sergio went for his surgery at 7:30am. The surgeons explained beforehand that they were confident that today was the day they could reconnect his oesophagus. They were quite optimistic in achieving this goal based on Sergio’s great response to the Foker treatment so far. Dr Jennings rang after the surgery at 2pm and delivered the news that we’ve been praying for; Sergio’s oesophagus is now complete! The operation went very smoothly with no real complications. He was back in his room well ahead of schedule and looking good considering the procedure he had just gone through. Sergio will remain in an induced coma for another week so that his oesophagus has time to heal up. We are all over the moon with today’s outcome and vey thankful to the entire EA team here at the hospital. Sergio will still require other procedures and surgeries in the future but everyone knows that today’s operation was the crucial one. We would like to thank everyone who have sent us messages of support. It’s so wonderful to have reached this long-awaited milestone in Sergio’s path of recovery.
Sergio le llevaron a operar a las 7:30 am. Los cirujanos explicaron de antemano que estaban seguros de que hoy era el día en que conectarian su esófago. Siempre fueron muy optimistas con este objetivo debido a la respuesta de Sergio con este tratamiento hasta el momento. Dr. Jennings llamo por telefono después de la cirugía a las 2pm y dio las noticias que tanto hemos estado esperando y por las que hemos estado rezando ; el esófago de Sergio ya está completo!. La operación fue bien y rodada, sin complicaciones. Sergio estaba de vuelta en su habitación antes de lo previsto y en buenas condiciones teniendo en cuenta la operacion que acababa de tener. Sergio permanecerá en un coma inducido por una semana más para que su esófago tenga tiempo de curarse y asentarse. Todos estamos muy contentos con el resultado de hoy y muy agradecidos al equipo de cirujanos aquí en este hospita, este equipo es un milagro de la naturaleza. Sergio todavía requiere otros procedimientos y cirugías, pero todos saben que la operación de hoy fue crucial. Nos gustaría agradecer a todos los que nos han enviado mensajes de apoyo. Es maravilloso haber conseguido este resultado despues de esperar tanto tiempo.
