Today I had the great privilege of meeting Dr John Foker who is the inventor of the Foker technique which Sergio is currently undergoing. Even though Dr. Foker is semi-retired, he is still a senior consultant of the Center for Advanced Reconstruction of the Esophagus (CARE). The results of the gap study are very encouraging and as a result Sergio may go for an operation to join up both ends of his esophagus as early as this Thursday. It’s great that we find ourselves in this position so early, however we do understand that Sergio will have many further operations to fully repair his esophagus and so realistically he is still at the early stage of this long recovery journey.
Hoy he tenido el gran privilegio de conocer a Dr. John Foker que es el inventor de la técnica Foker en la que Sergio se encuentra actualmente. A pesar de que el Dr. Foker está semi-retirado, él todavía es uno de los mas altos asesores del Centro para la Reconstrucción avanzada de esófago (CARE). Los resultados del estudio del GAP (distanciamiento entre los cabos) son muy alentadores y, como resultado Sergio puede tener la operación para unir los dos extremos de su esófago quizas este jueves. Es genial que nos encontremos en esta posición tan temprano, pero sin embargo Sergio va a tener muchas más operaciones para reparar completamente el esófago y la realidad es que sigue estando en la primera etapa de este viaje tan largo de recuperación.
