First of all I would like to apologize, as we don’t write in Help Sergio since March. We have been quite busy and day by other we couldn’t find the moment to write. First to say is that Sergio was with the rotavirus in the hospital and he got another virus while he was there, he was in the hospital that time for one month. Then he came home and after a few weeks he had to return to the hospital because he got the same virus. This time he was in the hospital for less than 2 weeks. After spending two weeks in Our Ladies Hospital Crumlin in Dublin, Sergio was ready to be discharged on Tuesday last week. It was an exciting event for the entire family bringing Sergio home for the first time ever. We had everything in place including equipment and medical supplies. Unfortunately though it became quickly apparent that things were not going to go to plan as Sergio had profuse diarrhea that didn’t cease throughout his first night at home. Sergio slept 12 hours straight last night. All the walking around and playing on the mat really wears him out in a good way. He got some vaccinations this morning in his thighs and was none too pleased when the syringe went in. Tadhg came to visit in the afternoon and Sergio was delighted to see him waltzing in the door. It was lovely to see Tadhg going straight over to his brother and planting him a gentle kiss on his lips. This ritual was repeated several times much to everyone’s amusement. Day 181: Sunday 21/10/2012

I’m happy to report that Sergio has bounced right back from last Thursday’s operation and he was in good form all day. It only proves the fact that he is such a strong little boy. He has had six bedside dilatations of his esophagus since last Thursday. Obviously they are quite painful procedures but Sergio seems to be able cope with them better now. His peg site looks very sensitive and the nurses are keeping a close eye on it. The good news is that the cuff in his trach has been taken down so Sergio can once again hear his own voice which just cheers him up so much. Since the...
